Proyecto DEL ESPETÁCULO de la COCINA
|
Bienvenidos a mi casa. Soy Caity y mi co-cocinero es Mckayla. Today we will be making flour tortillas and cheese quesadillas. The tortillas originates from the spaniards in mexico about 10,000 years ago. It was the principal food of the Aztec people who at the time were, the dominant people of Mexico (Mesoamerica). The quesadilla originated in the southern and central parts of Mexico. The dish was really good, I thought it was good because it was a home cooked meal that relates to what we are learning in spanish 2. If I were to make this again I would get a bigger pan for making the tortillas and for the quesadillas because it was one hot mess when I was trying to flip the quesadilla.

El Proyecto de la Biografía
In this project we learned a lot about using the past preterito and imperfecto and how to from sentences. Our goal was to learn about a famous Latino person and study about them, then we made videos about them and art pieces on them to show what we had learned and incorporating the skills and different tense sentences that we had been learning in class. The person I chose to study was Severo Ochoa. He was a chemist, teacher, and doctor. I thought that was very cool and interesting so I decided to read more about him and ended up doing my project on him. In this project I enjoyed being able to practice and perfect my spanish in using the preterito and imperfecto. I hope to get better and better and really enjoyed this project and had fun with all we put into it.

El Día De Los Muertos |
|
In this project we studied El Día de Los Muertos. We made altars for us to remember someone in our family. We also made two Calavera poems. The person I used for my ofrenda was my great grandpa, Iggy. And my two Calaver poems were on a dog trainer and Brian Morgan, my adviser. I printed off a picture of my grandpa and then used the help of wordrefference.com, a spanish dictionary, and Sarita to write a nice description of grandpa Iggy. For my Calaveras, of course they had to be funny so I decided that having a dog trainer whom the dogs didn't like would be pretty ironic. And for the second one I just thought of my adviser and thought how he really likes tea. So my story ended up being about how he doesn't enjoy it anymore because it runs right through his rib bones and he can´t taste the sweet tea. I had to refine both calaveras about five times to get my final refined project. I am proud of my final project and think that I did a great job. In this refinement process I talked a lot with Sartia and used word reference a lot to help translate different words. I also learned that I need to work on conjugating the terms as I am writing them and not after all my work is finished and having to make myself go back and correct it all afterwards. My understanding of Mexican culture has gown a great amount through this project. I learned that Día de los Muertos isn't a sad little celebration. It is a fun night to remember and celebrate the people who have died. Also one way that they welcome the dead back for the celebration is make an ofrenda, or an altar, and they put many things on it that the person liked. For example, if the person liked churros you would make churros and put them there for them, or if they liked candles you would do the same. I enjoyed this project and learned many new things.

El Raro Que Soy
La Refleccion Del Proyecto
In this project we made an autorretrato tipografico, typographic self-portrait. We took a picture of an object, or anything that we thought represented us. Then we took it into Photoshop to help us create a poster. After that we traced the shape and used the words to create the shape or object. The object I choose to use was the volleyball you can see to the right. My ability to describe people in spanish greatly improved. I learned a lot about how to use ser and estar along with learning how to conjugate verbs. One specific skill I learned through this project was how to tell someone about myself. I learned a lot about how you use ser for more perminate features when talking about yourself or someone else and you use estar when talking about an emotion or something that will not be perminate. For example if you are trying ot say you are bored you would use estar, if you use ser you would be saying that you are a perminatly boring person. So as you can see this is very important when it comes to describing something or someone. I think that my work of art is beautiful work because I spent a lot of time writing the spanish sentences in the background. I think that the only thing I would change about how I did this project is how I wrote the words in the background. I wish I would have used stencles or something other than just same font that I hand-write. I think that would have added to how unique and beautiful it is. |
